Crocheted baby blanket

This was my after Christmas project for a friends of ours who are having a baby in the next few months. That was a quick little project, and I really enjoyed putting it together. Also a nice break between Christmas presents and carrying on with our wedding things.

The yellow and purple blocks are just granny squares, so the same pattern that I shared for the Elephant Blanket applies. Then the butterflies are copied from the animal afgan patterns from Crafter After Me. You can find it here. Very simple and easy to follow pattern. The butterflies really were the fastest part of this blanket.

Then to work it together, I used a crochet pattern from Carina’s Craftblog. It really has a very pretty finish and just finished the blanket off nicely. Very simple to do. You can find the tutorial here.

I found that I really enjoy granny squares, as they are so easy to make and just look stunning when they are done. I am sure that there will be many more granny square projects in the future. Especially with the animals appliques that I started working on from Crafter After Me. Could be nice to have one animal per block. But we’ll see when I finish the animals.

Back to the wedding crafts for the next little while, but will definitely share some of our gardening and kitchen adventures in the next week or so. We have something exciting lined up as well! Keep your eyes on this space!
