Playlist update 9 January 2014

My first playlist update for this year 🙂

Let’s start with the US charts.

In at number 26 this week, and doing a slow climb up is American Authors with ‘Best Day of My Life”. They’re a band from Brooklyn that have been around since 2006 in the Indie scene. This is their first mainstream hit (and you can hear why), with its highest position currently on the US Adult Contemporary charts at Number 5.

Number 36 this week is a great country fix (cos country should be part of modern life – Look at Ke$ha and Pitbull). David Nail has 3 studio albums with “Whatever She’s Got” coming off his latest one “I’m a Fire”.

New Zealand charts:

I absolutely love this song at the moment (might have something to do with the fact that we just watched The Desolation of Smaug this week), but Ed Sheeran has been redeemed in my eyes. He really did lose the plot for a while, like when he did that song with Taylor Swift that no one can remember (love is blind and deaf it seems), but “I See Fire” is doing well on all international charts, holding onto the number 2 spot tightly in New Zealand.

MKTO also has a new one out which is currently at number 25 in New Zealand, “God Only Knows”. Hopefully it will be a bit better than their previous single “Classic”.

And then one of my favourite people, Avicii, has a spot at number 14 on the Australian Charts with “Addicted to You”. Seriously cannot get enough of his music at the moment, especially as he has so many great hits out. His only album was bought out last year, but his list of hits is endless. I’m sure this one will be added to them.
